With the oncoming new leadership teams, it is time to once again begin thinking about the goals we want for our chapter.  This is very important because it sets the tone for the upcoming administration.  But how do we set goals?

First, they need to be specific.  We as leadership can no longer set goals like “we want to grow this term”, “we want better attendance”, “it would be nice to have more dances”.  These goals need to be “we are going to grow 6 members this term”, “we are going to achieve 95% attendance at every meeting”.  These are goals that are specific and fit the second requirement for a goal, and that is it is measurable.  The goals must also be achievable.  This means it makes no sense to set a goal that cannot possibly be reached in the term that is set.  Does this mean that we set “softball” goals.  NO!  What it means is that our goals should be a challenge, but must be achievable, or the chapter won’t attempt to make it happen.  The last thing that a goal must be is track-able.  This means that your goals must be able to be tracked and reviewed with the chapter.

With all that in mind, set the goals as a team and discuss them with the chapter so they can get behind them and help you to achieve them.  Have a great term.
